Being pregnant is rough! Hormones are wrecking havoc on your body and mind, you're always tired, and at the same super busy trying to prepare for motherhood. These pregnant women perfectly and humorously summed up exactly what being pregnant is like when you're having an extra rough day.
When your patience is running very thin
Anything and everything can annoy you when you're pregnant. And the more the belly grows, the more annoying other people get. Especially your husband. If he as much as breathes wrong (aka breathes at all) you get inexplicably furious.
For any expectant moms and dads out there, know that this too shall pass - and don't take those outbursts, tears, or fights too personally. It's the hormones talking, not her.
One of the earliest signs of pregnancy is feeling very tired. But let us tell you a secret; that feeling never really goes away. This is yet another of the many less than fun parts of pregnancy that people don't really tell you about.
Before you decide if pregnancy and childrearing is really for you, we strongly recommend you learn from some of the many brutally honest mom bloggers out there. Because unlike the way pregnancy is presented in the movies, they will tell you the truth.
Pregnancy brain is what people commonly refer to when describing how forgetful and confused pregnant women tend to get. And it's really not a made-up thing, but very much real.
It's believed that pregnancy brain is caused in part by the hormones and in part by sleep deprivation. In short, pregnant women have a lot on their mind, and their body is focused on making a tiny human. So having a laser sharp memory just isn't a top priority for the brain at the time.
Not the right thing to say
It's not easy being the partner to someone who is pregnant. And if you are, thread carefully. This husband definitely didn't think before he spoke in this situation, but pretty quickly realized his mistake.
The right thing to say to any request is "yes, no problem!" and the right answer to a question about her appearance is always "you look beautiful, honey!". It doesn't matter if you're lying, it serves the greater good of keeping your pregnant lady happy.
Getting dressed in the morning when you're pregnant is an increasingly difficult daily challenge. At first it's just because you're so nauseous and exhausted that just putting pants on feels like climbing a mountain. But eventually, finding something that fits is the main problem...
Luckily, today most stores have a pretty decent maternity section with cute clothes that are made to accomodate that growing belly. But most women still feel like walking tents by month nine.
Here we have an example of classic pregnancy brain logic, which basically means it defies all logic. And imagine, moments like this one happen on a daily basis to most pregnant women. No wonder they get so frustrated they burst into tears so frequently.
Luckily pregnancy, as much as it can feel like forever, only lasts nine months. Once the baby arrives, you'll still be sleep deprived. But the pregnancy brain moments tends to go disappear after a couple of months.
That's what you get
When you're pregnant, complete strangers suddenly feel like it's ok for them to give you unsolicited advice about everything from your diet to how you should raise your baby. Newsflash; it's neither ok nor appreciated.
This expectant mother was not having it this day. So when a complete stranger tried to lecture her on what coffee she should be drinking, she did not hesitate to publicly embarrass him for it.
That sums it up!
The person who once used the word "glowing" to describe a pregnant woman and turned that into a thing, was obviously someone who has never been pregnant. And the woman in question was clearly just sweating.
Because in reality when you're heavily pregnant, you switch between feeling like a bloated whale and a sweaty, disheveled mess. Calling that look glowing is a very generous interpretation of reality.
Moms are the real superheroes of the world, that's no secret. That's why this soon-to-be mother's costume is so perfect. She could have squeezed herself into a Wonder Woman outfit, but instead she embraced Thor's depressed slob phase.
Because just like how Thor didn't look or feel like the powerful, brave superhero he really is when he was at such a low-point in life, pregnant women also rarely look or feel their best. And, she probably also wanted to be comfortable, and skin tight superhero suites are anything but.
Scoot over, or else...
What kind of person doesn't scoot over, or get up even, to let a heavily pregnant women sit comfortably? The kind of person who deserves having his hand sat on, that's who.
To not move your bag even though it's on the last spare seat on the bus would be rude regardless of who wanted to sit there. But a woman who is eight months pregnant? Someone needs to teach this man a lesson. Luckily this badass pregnant lady did just that.
Instead of commenting on what pregnant women look like, or giving unsolicited suggestions on what they should and shouldn't do, people should keep their thoughts and opinions to themselves. Pregnant women have enough on their plate as it is.
Instead, if you want to tell a pregnant woman something that will put a smile on her faces, just wish her and the baby good health, and tell her that she's doing great. That's it.
Unfortunate side effects
There are many less than glamorous sides of pregnancy. Your body changes rapidly in ways you've never experienced before, and it can often feel like you're no longer in control of it. Which is sort of the case.
Your body is no longer first and foremost yours. It's instead doing everything it can to accomodate your growing baby. And an unfortunate side effect of that is lots of extra pressure on your bladder. Which means you might accidentally pee when you cough, sneeze, or even laugh...
Not a fan
Nesting mode tends to set in full force around the third trimester. That's when the soon-to-be mom obsessively prepares the nest, aka the home, for the baby's arrival.
And apparently, some people also practice swaddling on their pets. This cat is definitely not a happy little dude, but we love how he seems to put up with his human's behavior anyway. Maybe he instinctively realizes putting up a fight with a determined pregnant lady is not worth the risk.
Third trimester woes
When you're pregnant, your mobility decreases more and more every week. Eventually just tying your shoes will be impossible without help.
Along with increasing difficulty to move and do basic, everyday things, comes increasing appetite and cravings. This woman's husband helped her resist having too many Oreos by simply putting them on the floor. No matter how much she wants them, there is no way she could reach them.
This is genius! We don't know why people seem to believe pregnant women's bellies are public property, but soon-to-be mothers really hate when you pat their belly without permission. And why wouldn't they?
Most people don't appreciate being touched by strangers. When you're pregnant you're also extra vulnerable, both emotionally and physically. So this spray could come in handy. It's the perfect way to get people to back off, with the help of a bit of humor.
Pregnancy is weird
Pregnancy is full of contradictions. It's one of the most amazing times in your life, while simultaneously being one of the most confusing, scary, and stressful things you'll ever experience. And you won't feel like yourself.
Your taste changes unexpectedly, your mood swings take you by surprise, and you discover new thing abut yourself every day. Like this pizza lover, who to her horror realized she suddenly couldn't stand pizza. (Don't worry though, food cravings and aversions go away once the baby arrives.)
No further explanation needed
When you're having a rough day as a pregnant woman, at least you can take comfort in the fact that it's not you - it's the pregnancy. Forgetting everything, from your water bottle to what your husband told you five minutes ago, is all part of the process.
Go easy on yourself, and accept that during these nine months you might not be your sharpest, most put together self. But the reward in the end of this long journey, is your baby! Which makes it all worthwhile.
No in between
Those pesky pregnancy hormones are like Russian Roulette for husbands. You just never know what's gonna happen, and your luck might change in the split of a moment.
Sometimes, your wife will be all pumped up on love hormones, feeling very cuddly and happy to have you around. Other times, just you walking through the living room as she's there watching TV, will mean you're in serious trouble...
This guy is acing this husband thing! If only every pregnant lady had a champ like this one, to help support her through the rollercoaster that is pregnancy. Just look how happy he made her.
On a different note, is this guy a chef or something? We've never seen homemade pancakes look this pretty! She should have him make pancakes on a weekly basis also when she's not pregnant.
The struggle is real
If you ever misplace something when you're pregnant (aka every day), just start searching in the least logical place and work your way through the house.
The fridge is a classic place to put things, so we would suggest starting there. Followed by the bathroom, the closet, and in the kitchen cupboards. But to save time, maybe invest in a lanyard during your pregnancy, for your keys and other essentials.
Here we have another amazing, supportive husband helping out his pregnant wife when she's struggling. For some women, it's important for their sense of self to continue doing their nails also when they're pregnant. But that can be easier said than done.
Once you're in the end of the second trimester, doing your toe nails will be impossible. So expecting a bit of help from your partner should not be seen as weird.
When you just can't be bothered anymore
When you're expecting, try to lower your expectations as the weeks go by. If you could live life basically as usual in the first few months, that doesn't mean that will be the case by month seven or nine.
For most women, the last few weeks are just about powering through any way they can. If that means wearing only flip flops because they can't tie their shoelaces, or never picking things up that fall on the floor, so be it.
Not all pregnant women are the same
Whatever you do, don't compare your bad, tired days with the perfect looking pregnant women doing yoga on Instagram. They're the minority, trust us (and they definitely edit their pictures).
It's of course recommended to both eat healthy and stay active during pregnancy. But every woman does what she can, according to her fitness level, energy level, and physical limitations. There is no right or wrong here. Just do you!
Mush for brains
At least she didn't burn the house down, so that's something! But seriously, you'd probably be wise to put a timer as soon as you make waffles or bake something in the oven when you're pregnant.
You might normally never forget anything, but pregnancy isn't your normal state. As a result, your brain might not necessarily behave the way you're used to. Better be safe than sorry, and take extra precaution.
Getting creative with it
Not every woman has a husband around who can help her reach all the places she no longer can. And not every woman wants to be dependent on someone else to do something as basic as shave her own legs.
This woman wanted to enjoy her bath and pamper herself, without having to ask anyone for help. So she figured out a truly creative way to turn her razor into a pregnancy adapted version.
That appetite is real
They used to say expectant mothers need to eat for two, and those were really the days when pregnant ladies could eat whatever their hearts desired without judgement. Today, however, things are a little different.
Now we know it's not actually necessary to eat for two, and you should gain tops 35 pounds during pregnancy (assuming you started out at an average weight). That being said, if you're so hungry you need three breakfasts, there's no shame in that. Listen to your body.
Even minor inconveniences can trigger a flood of tears when you're pregnant. If you're the partner of a pregnant woman, you should already know this - and behave accordingly.
This husband, did not behave accordingly, and as a result he is sleeping on the couch. Sure, this might seem like a ridiculously exaggerated reaction on her part. But guess what, she's pregnant, hormonal, and can't really help herself at the moment. Let's not judge.
Who says you can't have fun when you're pregnant? Sure, you might be too tired and heavy to go out partying, but you can definitely enjoy a fun movie night dressed up as Deadpool. Well, a heavily pregnant Deadpool.
That's what this woman was in the mood for. We don't know if she actually went to the movies in this outfit, but we kind of hope she did.
Say no more
Yup, this picture is pretty representative of how many women feel that their pregnancies are going by the third trimester. Your ankles and feet are constantly swollen, and you manage to put on two different shoes without even noticing.
The good thing is, if you're at this stage - the finishing line is just around the corner! Just keep it together for a few more weeks and soon you'll be holding your baby in your arms.
We're not sure why pickles are such a huge thing when it comes to pregnancy cravings. But they're definitely on the top list for many pregnant ladies.
This one took the trend one step further. Apparently she was craving both cold things, and pickles. So she decided to combine the two, and make pickle juice freeze pops. A pregnant person is literally the only one who would find this appealing, but whatever you need to get through your day, sister!
It's pretty impossible to be stealthy when you're pregnant, especially in the third trimester. But it is very possible to retain your sense of humor, and just have fun with it.
Like this wife, who adorably is sneaking up on her husband in the most obvious way. Sure, we cant see her per se. But her belly sticks out loud and clear from behind the door frame.
We're not trying to bash anyone's eating habits, but this kind of made our stomachs turn. We know pregnant women crave odd flavor combinations, but this takes the cake...
Ice-cream with pork, and lime caramel sauce? That's just so weird we can't even really imagine the flavor. But the presentation is pretty, and it seems like this pregnant lady was satisfied with her choice, which is all that really matters.
Her biggest supporter
When you're 39 weeks pregnant and hiding from your kids in the bathroom to get a moment to quietly eat ice-cream in peace, what's the appropriate reaction from your husband?
We guess there are several right answers to this question, but we think this one was especially adorable. Snapping a picture of her, and captioning it with this adoring comment, that's partnership done right.
The grocery list
Going grocery shopping for a pregnant women should probably be considered a high-risk sport. The demands will be many, sometimes random, and very exact. Fail to get the exact right products, and all hell will break loose.
The list can also change at the last minute, when you've already checked out and are headed to the car. But don't you dare say no, just head back into the store to keep hunting.
Eating for two
This soon-to-be mother is clearly very into chocolate cake. And considering the size of that thing, no wonder she feels like that kid from Matilda.
But hey, sometimes treating yourself to too much sugar is just what you need. And when you're pregnant, you deserve a round of applause for the incredible things your body is doing. Especially during those extra tough days. So we say, just enjoy that cake. No regrets!
